Eleano Vineyards is a five hector micro vineyard that has been family owned and operated for generations. Eleano Vineyards was founded by Nino Calice and Rino Grieco, both well known for their passion for the ancient "Aglianico del Vulture" varietal.

The multi-award winning specialty vineyard is nestled on the sunny slopes of an ancient volcano in Vulture, the province of Basilicata, in Pian dell'Altare in the municipality of Ripacandida southern Italy. The Aglianico varietal was originally brought from ancient Greece to Rome.
Vulture is renowned as the center of viticulture for the finest Aglianico grapes.

Aglianico del Vulture is a tannic, full-bodied red wine. It is one of Italy's greatest wines and has been dubbed the ‘Barolo of the South’.  Sunshine, volcanic soil and altitude are considered such important factors in the Aglianico del Vulture wine style that the DOC laws stipulate a vineyard altitude range between 200m and 700m.

Although primarily focused on the Aglianico de Vulture wines, Eleano, Dioniso and Teseo, the Eleano Vineyard also produces Fedra, a wine made from the local Malvasia di Basilicata varietal and Ambra, a delicious late harvest Moscato vin de paille.

Eleano Aglianico del Vulture

ELEANO AGLIANICO DEL VULTURE
Fermented for one year in stainless steel and matured two years in ten-hecto liters oak barrels, this superb wine has fragrances ranging from vanilla to almond, wood and cherry. It is a well-structured wine with a perfectly balanced level of tannins and an excellent aromatic persistence. Eleano is complete, splendid in its wealth of minerality.

Dioniso

Dioniso Aglianico del Vulture: This is a more versatile interpretation of Eleano’s Aglianico del Vulture DOC and is characterized by freshness, smoothness and easy drinkability. The oak-wood has a minor influence in this full-bodied red wine.

Teseo

Teseo Aglianico del Vulture
Teseo Aglianico is the perfect complement for southern Italian cuisine. Hints of ripe cherry, plum, thyme and tobacco. Good acidity. Rated 4 stars. Excellent value.

Fedra

Eleano Fedra Basilicata
Dry malvasia, good minerality, slightly citrus, hints of acacia on the finish. Excellent pairing with cured meats and cheeses, with shellfish and seafood, as well as vegetable-based appetizers.

Ambra

Eleano Ambra
An absolutely delicious, elegant vin de paille, produced in very limited quantities. It is the result of the rigorous selection of ultra-ripened late harvest local grown moscato grapes. Ambra has a rich amber-yellow color, elegant floral scents with fruity hints and tastes of a touch of drupe honey. The flavor is full-bodied, fragrant and embracing.
